NAHQ AND THE JOINT COMMISSION FORM A GROUNDBREAKING ALLIANCE
We are honored to notify you of a major announcement from NAHQ. We have just formed a game-changing strategic alliance with The Joint Commission that will have profound impact on Quality & Safety… and on healthcare… for the long-term, on a global level.
The Alliance will focus on what NAHQ has been diligently working toward – unleashing the incredible potential of the healthcare Quality & Safety workforce by advancing Quality & Safety competencies. Now, The Joint Commission will join us in this important mission through several bold and unprecedented collaborative efforts.
While our organizations will remain separate and unique, we believe that the Alliance will activate synergies between us and create a result bigger than our individual parts.
• The Joint Commission will endorse the NAHQ Healthcare Quality Competency Framework™. They will encourage healthcare organizations to adopt the Framework under NAHQ’s guidance witheffective programs like our Workforce Accelerator® and competency-based Team Training.
• The Joint Commission will endorse the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ®) -- recognizing this credential as critical for achieving Quality & Safety excellence. And, it is the only Quality & Safety certification endorsed by The Joint Commission. In addition, they will hold their own surveyors to this standard by attaining and maintaining their CPHQ. Plus, we will jointly fund 25 annual CPHQ exam scholarships for individuals in underfunded communities.
• We will co-create a micro-credential in Regulatory & Accreditation as part of NAHQ’s portfolio of micro-credentials in each of the domains of the Healthcare Quality Competency Framework.
• And NAHQ will recognize and endorse Joint Commission and JCI accreditation and certification approaches as best practices for assessing Quality & Safety within healthcare organizations.
This does not mean that NAHQ cannot work with healthcare organizations not accredited by The Joint Commission. What it does mean is that together, we are intentionally prioritizing the importance of alignment to NAHQ’s standard competencies and certifications, and we are locking arms with The Joint Commission to make sure that the workforce is aligned to the standard and ready to improve Quality & Safety and reduce healthcare costs.
This is a historic moment for the profession and discipline of healthcare Quality, and for NAHQ. With this endorsement, the power of the profession is recognized. The 'Power of Q’ is recognized and the power of YOU is recognized.
